Quotables

MILLS ON CY-WOODS/WESTFIELD – “It’s time for round two! After an exciting week of playoff games we move on to a round two matchup between Cy-Woods (9-2, 5-2) and Westfield (8-3, 4-3). Cy Woods beat Round Rock Westwood 38-28 last week, while Westfield dismantled Conroe 42-7 in their first round win. Both of these units are very exciting and can produce big numbers offensively. Cy Woods has gained 4707 total yards on offense, are led by quarterback Colton Huntsman (152-259, 2440 yds, 20 TD, 13 INT and 154-864 yds, 16 TD), who has accounted for an amazing 36 touchdowns. The Mustangs have also put up big numbers with 4376 yards of total offense. Westfield’s senior quarterback Jacoby Walker (126-201, 2083, 22 TD, 4 INT and 105-289 yds, 7 TD) was responsible for 29 of their touchdowns this season. What makes this game intriguing is that both teams have great defenses as well. The Wildcats’ Bryce Callahan, was named Player of the Week last week after recording 12 tackles, intercepting two passes, and returning one interception for a touchdown.  Callahan also scored on a 62 yard punt return. Westfield’s secondary has nine interceptions on the season and their front eight have an ability to put tremendous pressure on the quarterback. Something will have to give and Friday night’s game is sure to have all the excitement and suspense that a fan could hope for in round two of the playoffs!”

MOODY ON RR STONY POINT/THE WOODLANDS – “In one of the most highly anticipated matchups in the area round of the 2009 playoffs, some revenge will be on the minds of the #3 Woodlands Highlanders. Why? Well, they are taking on the team that eliminated them from the second round of the 2008 playoffs, the #10 Stony Point Tigers out of Round Rock. Highlander head coach Mark Schmid and his team got all they could handle and then some last week in the opening round, defeating Klein Forest in overtime, 32-31. QB Trent Eckel led the way for The Woodlands offense going 14/27 for 297 yards and 2 TD’s, both to WR Randy Knust. Another Highlander instrumental in the win last week was PK Ben Pruitt who connected for 4 field goals. For Stony Point, they certainly made things look very easy in their 56-7 demolishing of Cy-Falls last week. The two headed monster at quarterback, Gus Barrera, Jr. and Aaryn Sharp, had a great outing with Barrera, Jr. throwing for two scores and Sharp adding two on the ground. The Tigers defense held a potent Cy-Falls offense to just 216 total yards and Craig Chessher’s team overall never had to worry one bit. It was a 21-7 win for Stony Point back at The Palace last year in Round Rock. The home-and-home now shifts to Highlander territory, but will the result be the same?”
